In their third game of the Toronto Aeros Holiday Classic, the New England Hockey Club (NEHC) took on the tournament host, Toronto Aeros.
The NEHC had a strong first period, but two mistakes in the defensive zone led to two goals for the Aeros. In the second period, NEHC got caught on a couple bad line changes and were unable to create any sustained offensive pressure. As a result, the Aeros spent a significant amount of time in the NEHC defensive zone and were able to score four goals before the period ended. The second intermission served the NEHC well, as they came out and played a solid third period. They were able to generate a few scoring opportunities and tightened up in the defensive zone. The game ended with the Aeros winning 7-0.
SR G Angela Hawthorne played great and made a number of timely saves, despite being peppered for the majority of the game. She made 48 saves on 55 shots.
Next up, NEHC will face the Chicago Young Americans (CYA) at 9:00pm EST.
